Farmers National Bank values the safety and privacy of your personal information. Help yourself in protecting your privacy by observing and adhering to the following:
- Remember, employees of Farmers National Bank will NEVER call, email, or text you requesting your account numbers, date of birth, social security number, user names, passwords, etc.
- Beware of potential scams attempting to obtain your personal identifying information from unsolicited email, phone calls, text messages, etc. Do NOT give your personal information to anyone you do not know.
- Notify the Bank IMMEDIATELY if you believe you have been scammed or have given your bank account information or internet banking credentials to an unknown source.
- NEVER send personal or confidential information by unsecure email; use email encryption if you must provide this type of information electronically.
- Do not open email from unknown sources and be extremely cautious when opening attachments included with the email or clicking on links directing you to other websites.
- Make sure your firewall protection, antivirus software, and malware protection is kept up to date and that your computer’s operating system and browser privacy settings are current.
- Create strong passwords using a combination of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters. Change your passwords frequently and do not reuse previous passwords.
- Try not to use the same password for multiple websites and online accounts.
- Websites which appear legitimate but request you to click a link or open an attachment may unknowingly give scammers control of your computer and access to your privacy.
- Purchasing gift cards and giving the card information to an individual who promises they’ll make you rich very quickly is most likely a scam. Likewise an individual who sends you money requesting you to buy gift cards immediately and provide the card information to them is most likely a scammer.
- Be cautious of calls which appear on your caller id to be from legitimate businesses, organizations, or charities. Phone numbers can be spoofed and the impersonator may try to scam you of confidential information, such as your birth date, social security number, banking information, etc.
- Online dating websites are the perfect environment for scammers to reach lonely individuals, coercing them of confidential information and ultimately scamming them of their money.
- Above all, remember “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is”; don’t fall victim of a scam!
