The Farmers National Bank of Agra was chartered in 1921, staffed by three employees, and capitalized with funds from local investors. The Bank has always been privately owned with a mission to promote economic growth locally by offering competitive rates to both the depositor and the borrower.

With the vision of serving a broader public, a loan production office was opened in Phillipsburg in 1978. In 1991, the Bank's charter was officially moved to Phillipsburg while retaining an office in Agra.

In 1992, a new branch was established in Logan and then in 1994, majority stock of the First National Bank of Kensington was purchased, making Kensington the fourth location of a full service branch office.

Another branch office was opened in 2006 at Stockton. Most recently, in the fall of 2019 assets were purchased and certain liabilities assumed from Farmers State Bank in Atwood, making this the sixth branch location of Farmers National Bank.
